A company called Simple Menu has claimed to have acquired Grubhub and has alerted some Boulder restaurants to be on the lookout for orders coming from them going forward. Grubhub has stated publicly that they are not affiliated with this company and is currently issuing a Cease & Desist to them now. This company has rerouted delivery options on Google without the restaurant’s consent! When contacted, they will not terminate the rerouted ordering link. Our Boulder member was certain that her Google My Business page had been compromised when she logged in and saw an alert that said "Duplicate Location", which all business owners should see as the first warning sign of fraudulent activity. Unfortunately, Google did not send an alert that this happened, despite the restaurant having a 2-step verification process activated. After further investigation, this member learned that a duplicate website had been created for her business, with stolen photos, and menu & prices from Grubhub. This has put her customers’ identities at risk as they unknowingly shared credit card info with this fraudulent company. We know this company is not limiting their attention to just Boulder, so please be aware and pay attention to your own online presence!
Suggestions for businesses:
The National Restaurant Association recently launched ServSafe Workplace to combat sexual harassment in the workplace and help prevent future incidents from taking place in the foodservice and hospitality industries. As Dawn Sweeney, Association President and CEO, told multiple national news outlets, “We condemn sexual harassment. Period. It does not matter if the harasser is a customer, a colleague or a manager.” ServSafe Workplace demonstrates our industry’s commitment to fostering a positive and safe work environment, and illustrates how seriously we take this issue.
ServSafe Workplace equips employees and managers with training to help mitigate emerging risks and promote the positive culture that has always been associated with restaurants across America. The program includes a series of webinars and other materials that will help restaurant staff identify inappropriate behavior, recognize when it’s necessary to intervene, and understand sexual harassment’s harmful impact on individuals and our industry.
This summer, ServSafe Workplace will be available to members of our industry free-of-charge, and there is also a comprehensive list of helpful resources that restaurateurs can use to prevent sexual harassment from taking place in their business.

Since the early 1980s, he’s been a business owner in Breckenridge, and he's a managing partner in Storm Restaurants, which currently runs two award-winning establishments, the Hearthstone and Mi Casa. The Colorado Springs Fire Department is hoping to have City Council vote to approve an administrative rule that requires CO2 alarms or mechanical ventilation for any business using 100lbs of CO2 or more! The Fire Department did this without consulting the industry, without going through any kind of a public process, and without involving any elected officials! This rule was contemplated and passed completely in the dark even though it will end up costing businesses in Colorado Springs thousands of dollars to comply. We are asking Colorado Springs members to tell their City Council person that the Fire Department needs to go back to the industry and form a stakeholder process to work on appropriate regulations! Check your email for the Call to Action emailed to you yesterday or check out our Grassroots Action Center.
