Celebrating our 20th year, the ProStart Invitational & Sysco Denver Hospitality Cup Competition will be held at Gaylord Rockies Hotel March 1, 2019.
In a cross between “Top Chef” and “Shark Tank,” the CO ProStart Invitational is an electrifying event that puts high school culinary and management students to the ultimate test. More than 150 students from across Colorado will compete in two events demonstrating their mastery of culinary and business management skills. During the Culinary Competition teams prepare a three-course, gourmet meal in one-hour using only two butane burners and Management Competition teams pitch a new restaurant concept to a panel of “investor” judges. What’s at stake? More than $1 million in available scholarships, the Sysco Denver Hospitality Cup, and the opportunity to represent Colorado at the National ProStart Invitational to be held this May in Washington D.C.
“This amped-up environment is like working in a packed restaurant on a Friday night,” said Mary Mino, president of the foundation. “Students who can perform under this pressure are well prepared to graduate and pursue a career in the hospitality industry, or have a leg up on their post-secondary culinary or management education.”
Students are competing for more than $1,000,000 in scholarship opportunities from the following institutions: Johnson & Wales University, Louisiana Culinary Institute, New England Culinary Institute, Culinary Institute of Virginia, and The Culinary Institute of America.

The Foundation established the ProStart Student Invitational and Sysco Hospitality Cup competition to provide industry and post-secondary education with a forum to recruit the ProStart program’s best and brightest talent.
