Every year, hundreds of restaurateurs head to Washington, D.C. to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill. The National Restaurant Association Public Affairs Conference is an opportunity to introduce a brand-new Congress and Administration to the restaurant industry and help them understand what it takes to run a restaurant business. We'd love for you to join the CO delegation and meet with Colorado’s federally elected officials and tell them your story! This conference is your chance to make a difference on policies that impact your business. Early-bird pricing (50% off!) is available until Feb. 4 using the code CO50. For hotel rooms or other questions about attending, contact Sonia Riggs.
Today is the 20th day of the 2019 Colorado General Assembly and even though much of the legislation that has been introduced doesn’t impact the restaurant industry, the CRA is hard at work getting ready for bills that we know are coming. Currently, the CRA is monitoring about 40 bills that could have an impact on restaurants in Colorado, while actively working on about 6 of them. Later today the CRA will be testifying in support of House Bill 19-1014 which makes some changes to civil penalties for retail food establishments outside of Denver and changes to when a local health department needs to conduct a reinspection. This bill will allow local health departments to focus their resources on the businesses that need the most help, while giving restaurants who consistently meet health code standards relief from timely and often unneeded reinspections. This legislation has been thoroughly negotiated with multiple stakeholders during the summer of 2018 and the list of supporters include the industry, the state health department, and local health departments.
