About the Colorado Restaurant Foundation

Established in 1987 as the 501(c)3 philanthropic foundation of the Colorado Restaurant Association (CRA), the Colorado Restaurant Foundation’s (CRF) mission is dedicated to enhancing the industry’s training and education, career development, and the overall well-being of the industry and its workforce. The CRF supports individuals in the restaurant industry as they advance and thrive.

Building a skilled and educated workforce is crucial to the future of the industry’s growth. Colorado ProStart®, CRF scholarships, and our apprenticeship programs bridge the gap for the employment needs of the industry, fostering talented students who are passionate about pursuing meaningful foodservice and hospitality careers.

Impact

The Colorado Restaurant Foundation supports foodservice and hospitality workers through education and training, emergency relief, and health and wellness resources. In turn, we depend on industry support to build and manage these programs, working together to create opportunities for people entering the job force and helping restaurant employees grow and succeed.

The CRA and the Colorado Restaurant Foundation are integral components to the success of our restaurant and hospitality industry. I’ve been involved with the organization since 2005 and on the Board for 15 years. Throughout this time, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact these organization have made in our community. From the Angel Relief Fund program to workforce development – each provides assistance to those facing adversity, as well as education for those wanting a future in foodservice.

David Coder, CRF VP Education Committee and Director of Business Resources and Marketing at Sysco Foods

After more than 40 years of constant involvement in Colorado’s hospitality industry, I’ve never seen the CRA/CRF more robust, doing the hard work that must be done to ensure the success of the businesses and people who make up our amazing hospitality family. I invite you to join, participate, and learn for yourself all that this organization accomplishes!

Richard Schneider, CRF Vice Chair and tortilla savant at Raquelitas Tortillas

The CRF is truly a lifeline for industry workers and operators, providing direct financial assistance to our staff impacted by hardship, mental health concerns, and the impacts of COVID. They also are working to expand and professionalize our labor force, provide much needed grant funds, and increase resources for operators in our industry. Through our partnership with the CRF, we have been able to not only survive the pandemic, but really thrive in the changing landscape of our industry.

Lauren Roberts, CRF Treasurer and co-owner of Watercourse and City O’ City

I’d like to thank you for being such a great resource to our community during this trying time. Your leadership is a beacon of reason.

Patrick H., Colorado museum restaurant operator
